Get Bubbly this Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day is next Friday and if you choose to stay in and have your own dinner and drinks....why not be creative with them? Or better yet, wake up on Saturday and have a few belated Valentine's Day mimosas with Casa Noble tequila?!

Thanks to Casa Noble Tequila I was able to sample a few different cocktails with my favorite being the Blushing Maria!

The Blushing Maria is by far my favorite because of my love for pink grapefruit juice and pomegranate juice!

What do you need to get started?

Blushing Maria
2 oz. Casa Noble Crystal
1 oz. Pomegranate juice
1 oz. Pink grapefruit juice
¼ oz. Agave Nectar

Combine the tequila, juices and agave nectar in a shaker tin with ice and shake until chilled. Strain- serve in Champagne flute, top with rose sparking wine.

If that's too sweet and tart for your liking then the Mayan Mimosa may be up your alley as more of a traditional mimosa but adding in grenadine, orange biters and of course Casa Noble Reposado.

Mayan Mimosa
½ oz. Casa Noble Reposado
2 oz. Chilled Orange Juice
4 oz. Chilled Champagne (Brut)
Orange Biters

Fill champagne flute with orange juice, add the tequila and teaspoon grenadine, a dash or Regan’s Orange Bitters, swirl with spoon. Top with Champagne.

And one last cocktail you and your honey can make is the Aztec Mimosa. By using sparkling wine and a couple different juices, this will have you screaming for more...

Aztec Mimosa
1 oz. Casa Noble Crystal
4 oz. Schramsberg Sparkling Wine
1 oz. Fresh lime juice
2 oz. Pineapple juice

Serve all ingredients, chilled, in a champagne flute.

Cheers to love.

I'm Back!

Okay, I'm back to writing after a brief break from writers block, work and other life situations.

I'm not going to lie...I still have a bit of writers blocks and I think its due to this weather. Now I sound like an older person who only talks about the weather, but seriously, for some reason this weather has me in a "lack of motivation" mood. Do any of you feel this way?!

Not only that but with more people ripping off my blog, it takes the fun out of blogging! I mean, as people say, "Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery"...whoever wrote that, didn't have someone constantly copying them. :) I guess its time to step up my creativity and continue posting on issues, events, fashion and food that I love. The power of passion it is.

Okay, so I'm done being Negative Nancy... :)

I appreciate you all still reading and tuning into my blog!

In event news, this weekend Ladybird Boutique is teaming up with Harbor Yoga and debuting a new line of active wear! Starting Friday, Ladybird will be introducing the line in-store and on Sunday, February 9th, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Ladybird will have a trunk show featuring Solow, Nesh, Dolan, Monrow and Boulevard at 36 N. High Street in downtown Dublin. Come get a great workout in a Harbor Yoga (you will sweat!) and check out Ladybird's newest line!

This Thursday, you can join the ladies of ROWE and get a quick fix of tighter skin and enjoy a wrinkle-free evening at Rowe's Botox Bash. From 5-7 p.m. take advantage of a low cost of $12 per unit from Dr. John Wakelin of Columbus Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery. You can also enjoy 15% of all purchases from Rowe. Now I've never had botox myself and I don't have a firm belief or opinion on botox or the natural look of aging...but I have considered it! It could be a preventative measure right?! :) If you have had it done, comment below because I'd love to hear how your experience was, did it hurt, did it last, etc?!

Also, this Thursday be sure to tune into Good Day Columbus on Fox28 at 9:30 a.m.! I may be discussing "What She REALLY Wants for Valentine's Day." Be sure to see great items from stores here in Columbus!

Are you still in need of Valentine's Day plans? Stay tuned and I'll be sure to give some tips on eating out, going out with the girls and having a romantic night in! xoxo

Until next time...

Also, let me know what you want to read more about!? From new openings, to parties, to fashion to charities....tell me what you want to see more of and you may get your wish!

Don't forget Restaurant Week ends soon! If you want to try a new restaurant (there are over 70 participating restaurants), hurry now to to pick which one or multiple restaurants that you want to try from $15-$35!

This Weekend in Events!

New Year, New you. Are you looking to go out more? Give more to a charity? Then I've got the places you need to be.

This weekend is filled with a workout for a cause and a party for prom. Dust off those old prom dresses because Fairy Goodmothers is looking for gently used dresses for its annual Cinderella’s Closet Boutique in April.

If you've already burned your dresses like I have (just kidding), then head to Party for Prom at the Bluestone on Sunday, January 19th, where you can sip on cocktails and taste some of Columbus Monthly’s Best New Restaurants, while listening to the sounds of Alex White & The Sounds Playground.

Tickets are $40 and will include two drink vouchers and tastings. Proceeds will benefit the pop-up shop that allows high school girls (who may not have the means) to select a prom dress, shoes and accessories at no cost.

But before you party the night away, sweat it out at the Barre3 Powell studio on Saturday, the 18th. The 11:15 a.m. class will donate 100% of proceeds ($20 class) to The CYP Club’s Date 2 Remember on February 22nd. A Date 2 Remember benefits a charity every year with this year supporting YP360.

So get your year off to a great start by partying for a cause. Hangover may or may not be included.

An Inside Look of The LeVeque Tower!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending one of DRAC's (Downtown Residents Association of Columbus) monthly meetings which happened to be held inside the ever-so-famous downtown Columbus building and landmark: The Leveque Tower.

Once being the tallest building in Columbus (before Rhodes Tower in 1974) and the 5th tallest building in the world, The LeVeque Tower has new plans for the city of Columbus.

It's currently being used as office space and a two-floor apartment space on the 44th floor. But it will soon transition into a 150-room boutique hotel in a year or two, and also include a restaurant, retail on the first floor, a coffee shop and apartments starting on the 36th floor.

They are looking for investors if you're interested in opening a restaurant or coffee shop?! Hmmmm....Columbus Socialite Lounge sounds pretty good?!?! :) :)

Here's a fun fact....The LeVeque Tower was commissioned by the American Insurance Union before two families after the Great Depression purchased it. The Tower which was owned by the Lincoln family and the LeVeque family until the LeVeque family bought out the other family. Do you know how the LeVeques made their money? We've all gone bowling, correct?

Well, Leslie L. LeVeque was the designer of an automatic pinsetter which became known as the Columbus pinsetter (a pinsetter manually resets bowling pins to their correct position). The patent for his pinsetter was later purchased by AMF. Who knew?! That's pretty cool!

In the 60's, an observation deck was open for the public to view the city for a small fee but was then later turned into a penthouse apartment.

I say bring back that observation deck and also turn it into a restaurant and bar so we can be like other big cities!!!

If you aren't lucky enough to be the CEO of Scott's and living on the 44th floor in the penthouse apartment, then keep your eyes open for apartment space in the next two years with square feet ranging from 800 to 2,300 (estimated) and your new living headquarters could be The LeVeque Tower too.

Enjoy a few photos I took from the lobby to the elevators to the 360 degree view from the 36th floor.

And as the elevators state in gold...Cheers to Happiness, Health and Prosperity.

Columbus Socialite of the Week: BRIAN SCHOTTENSTEIN

Happy Friday!

Today I'm featuring a well-known name in Columbus who is not only a name, but has achieved success in his career while giving back to the community with his commitment to many nonprofits around town.

From serving on the Board of the Columbus Apartment Association, Columbus Jewish Federation and The Ohio State University Hillel, to being active with The Ohio State University Fisher School of Business, Jewish Family Services, and the Memorial Tournament, he definitely stays busy.

Graduating from the University of Miami, Florida, he took his BBA in entrepreneurship and has been a leader in his current job as the VP for the Schottenstein Real Estate Group.

So who is this Columbusite? Who inspires him? And did you know he judged the Miss Ohio USA 2012 pageant and was a scorer for the 2013 Presidents Cup?

Miss C.S. - By far Favorite thing to do in Columbus:
BS: Golfing at Muirfield Village GC

Miss C.S. - Favorite Restaurant in the City:
BS: Hyde Park in the Short North

Miss C.S. - Favorite Hidden Gem:
BS: Blocks Bagels

Miss C.S. - Favorite Shop/Store:
BS: High Street Denim

Miss C.S. - Best Party, Event or Scene in the City:
BS: There are a lot of great places. I'll say BBR, but I'm biased since I'm an investor in their holding company Peerless Management. Also, my Birthday party is there on Saturday. Anyone is welcome!

Miss C.S. – Favorite local celebrity:
BS: Thad Matta

Miss C.S. – Charity of Choice:
BS: There are so many it's hard to name one. Will Allen Foundation, Cordle Cares, Buckeye Boys Ranch and of course the organizations I'm on the board of.

Miss C.S. - Best Quality of a Person:
BS: Honesty and Integrity

Miss C.S. – Tell us more about what you do for the Schottenstein Real Estate Group and what are your future goals for the company?
BS: As the Vice President, I really work all across the board. My main focuses are acquiring the land, zoning, development and marketing/managing the new and existing communities. My goals for the company are to expand into other markets and build more mixed use developments. We are now working on projects in six different states and many of them have retail components. I think people want convenience and building in great locations with the top amenities gives a resident everything they need right in their backyard.

Miss C.S - Who inspires you?
BS: My father. He is so smart, hard working and humble. I couldn't ask to learn from a better person and I don't take it for granted the opportunity he has given me. We were fortunate enough to win Developer of the Year by the BIA in 2012 for the third time and we were ranked #1 commercial real estate developer by Columbus Business First this past year. I will remember accomplishing these recognitions with my father and our great team at SRE Group forever.

Miss C.S. – You’re very active as a board member and volunteer with many nonprofits in Columbus. What do you enjoy most about working with these organizations and why:
BS: Well the three main areas I'm focusing on being active in are religion, real estate and Ohio State. I'm on the board of the Columbus Jewish Federation, Ohio State Hillel, Columbus Apartment Association and active with the Fisher School of Business. I feel that I don't work one day when it comes to volunteering or my career because when you are passionate about what you do it isn't work to me.

Miss C.S. – What all do you do with the Memorial Tournament? And how were you selected to be a scorer in the 2013 Presidents Cup:
BS: Every year I score for the Memorial Tournament. I am inside the ropes for two rounds and following a group keeping track of every shot on an electronic device. I was fortunate to be selected of thirty members to score for last year's Presidents Cup. What an experience!

Miss C.S. – Any good/funny stories with a run-in with any of the golfers? Spill the dirt!
BS: I have a few great stories. One is when I scored for Steve Stricker, the year he won and the round he had a hole in one on the eighth hole. He came over to me right after and gave me a high five right afterwards and it was all over the golf channel. Also, he talked after the round how he gave the signed ball to the scorer. I had no idea that was the hole-in-one ball he gave to me until I saw an article on ESPN after the round about it. Also, during the Presidents Cup, I was standing next to President Bush when Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar won their match on the 18th. I was standing near the practice putting green when Tiger first gave me a fist pump then the President.

Miss C.S. – You were a judge for the 2012 Miss Ohio USA pageant. Tell us more about that experience and what really makes a woman standout from others?
BS: I had no idea what I was getting into, but what a great production and experience it was to judge. We would interview each girl before the show and I asked questions to get a feel for them. What have they done out of the ordinary? What kind of person are they? Is she someone I would hire? I believe it is more than a beauty contest. I might be judging Michigan this year.

Miss C.S. – What is one thing people may not know about you:
BS: I was on the USA Maccabi golf team that won the gold medal in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2008.

Miss C.S. - Finish the sentence, “If I could do anything in the World, I would...”
BS: Cure Cancer

Miss C.S. – Why Columbus? (live, work, play – you name it)
BS: Columbus has a lot to offer and continues to get better and better. There are great restaurants, nightlife and the people are down to earth. Also, a great city to work and develop in for many of reasons such as the quality of local businesses, the quality of people and the pro development mentality of the capital city.

Miss C.S. - In ONE word, a Columbus Socialite is:
BS: A leader

Thank you Brian and thanks for your passion and commitment to Columbus! Have a great Birthday too!

Have a great weekend!

My First Uber Experience

Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to sip on champagne at a private tasting at Wine on High. (Read my past post HERE.)

I knew I would be sampling many types of champagne with a few of my friends and decided the best way to enjoy the tasting would be to get transportation there and back…

And that way was with Uber.

Uber, a company based in San Francisco, California, officially launched in 2009, but lucky for Columbus, as of December 18th, Uber has made its way to the Buckeye state.

Uber is a mobile application that connects passengers with drivers of vehicles for hire and ridesharing services. It’s as easy as 1,2,3 as all you need to do is download the app on your phone, create an account and request a “Black Car”.

I decided to give Uber a try. I opened my app and saw that there was a wait time of around 7 minutes so I requested a car. Perfect. It even told me the time of when a driver would be here to pick us up and once he confirmed and was en route, his photo, his vehicle type and his star rating showed up on my screen. driver was on his way in a black BMW.

No more waiting and waiting for yellow, blue or orange taxis! The Black car is the way to go.

I knew exactly when the driver would be here, what he looked like and which black vehicle he was showing up in.

As he arrived I received a text alerting me that my Uber ride was here.

We stepped outside and there he was with the doors open and bottled water in the car, waiting to take us to the champagne tasting.

Who was I? Did "Big" from Sex in the City just pull up? I could get use to this service...a driver to take me to and from my destination.

When our driver dropped us off at Wine on High, my credit card was on file and was charged so no need to provide cash or a credit card. It's taken care of!

All you need to do is rate your driver (1 to 5 star rating). Consider this your tip! Great driver? Be sure to give them 5 stars!

Also be sure to request 15-20 minutes before needing a ride.

So there you go...there’s a new ride in this town and it’s called Uber. Are you ready for your ride?

Use *PROMO CODE CBUSSOCIALITE and enjoy up to $20 off your first Uber ride!

To use this promo, download the app for iPhone or Android and enter promo CBUSSOCIALITE, or sign up at You can also text CBUSSOCIALITE to 827-222 for quick signup on the go! (Msg & data rates may apply) Questions? Feel free to message Uber at or via Twitter @Uber_CBUS. *Promo is valid for new users in Columbus only. Expires 1/30/14

Enjoy your ride!

Miss C.S.
