Ring in the New Year with Luscious Lashes and Luxurious Lips
Written by: Meg Morosco, Makeup Artistry by Meg
New Year’s Eve is all about glitz, and glam. There’s no better time to try a fabulous new look than while ringing in the New Year!
BEFORE AND AFTER
Welcome 2012 with one of the following looks:
The key to a long-wear look that will last until the ball drops is face primer.
I am addicted to Too Faced Prime and Poreless. The velvet texture will allow your face to feel fresh out of a facial!
Apply foundation only as needed first then, for additional coverage, apply concealor only to your problem areas!
For the PERFECT cheek sparkle, regardless of lighting and contouring, check out Mirabella Baked Shimmer. Your cheekbones and pictures will thank you later!
On to the main course...EYES!
Kick off 2012 with killer eyes! The perfect eye color and trend is GOLD! (Could even be good luck and good fortune for 2012.)
Every skin tone looks incredible in Half Baked by Urban Decay. Add a warm chocolate brown in your crease, try Mocha from Smashbox. It looks like hot chocolate sparkle for your lids! Finish off with a rich bronze liner, Deep Bronze from Smashbox, with a slight wing.
Nothing would be complete without LASHES! Now is the time to vamp up...toss on your best mascara (my personal fav, Cover Girl Lash Blast) and a strip of lashes!
Need a lesson on how to apply the perfect pair, check out www.makeupartistrybymeg.com for a full lesson!
To keep it classy and well balanced, a red lip is a must! Can’t commit to red, try a rich berry-personal favorite, A Different Grape by Clinique!
Look #2: Green with Envy!
Prep the skin and face the same as above, but this time, try a green eye!
The key is to pick the perfect green.
-For fair skin, try Mac Lustreleaf.
-For medium or olive tones, try Mirabella Fortune eyeshadow. The perfect green with a hint of gold flecks.
-For warm or dark skin tones, try Nars Night Porter.
My favorite way to apply a colored shadow is with a neutral base color from lash line to brow line, my go-to color is Urban Decay Virgin.
With your perfect green in hand, add the selected shade to your crease line. The must do step is blending with a blending brush. Blending will keep you looking hot and not a Hot Mess. Finish off with a strong black liner, winged of course, and lashes! (Stila makes an incredible Stay All Day Waterproof liner; it’s like a Sharpie for your eyes!!)
With the drama of the eye, keep it simple on the lips with a Nude Lipcolor and gloss! My personal picks are YSL Sweet Honey and Mirabella Honeysuckle. Avoid the sticky gloss feeling with Smashbox in Infinite!
