TGFM! Thank goodness for Mom!
With Mother’s Day this weekend and a fun (surprise) day planned for my mom, I couldn’t think of anyone else that was more deserving to be today’s
Socialite of the Week and Fabulous Friday Feature than
my Mom.
I don't need to ask her what her favorites are because I know them: She loves Mexican, Chinese food on Sundays, working in the yard and gardening, sewing and making blankets for her grandbabies, laughing with her friends, shopping, "chasing ambulances", beach trips and spending time with her family. Oh and throw in some nachos or popcorn, and that's a perfect addition to any day for her!
A Mom to three girls (Shelley, Leigh Ann and moi), our mom has given us everything we’ve ever needed, but more importantly she has always given us love and support.
I have so many fond memories of everything we did together growing up, as well as our many random
“Mom+Ash extravaganzas” that we always seem to find ourselves getting into.
Many will say I’ve been attached to my mom’s hip since I was born because I’m the baby of the family or the only daughter to be breastfed (I know, TMI). But for me, it’s because I always have so much fun with her and no matter, she’s always been there for me.
As a baby and growing up, I was always sitting on my mom’s lap, twirling her hair. Which is the reason I believe, I’m always twirling mine! Ironically, my mom is always telling me “to stop playing with my hair”! :)
Growing up, she would always make my lunch for school and more than not, breakfast too! Yes, I was spoiled. But I will always remember my notes she would leave in my lunch bag and motivational quotes before games. My locker was always decorated to a tee on game days with a large bag of my favorite candy inside (I was a candy fiend then...and still am for
Sour Patch Kids today). She was always at EVERY game of mine, no matter the sport, the gym, the track, the city, the state and season.
She was always there to root me on. And she still is.
Favorite meals were always made for our birthdays (unless we went out to our favorite restaurant) and a shoulder was and is always is there to cry on.
She’s the one I call EVERY day on my way home from work and probably another time or two throughout the day. My sister Shelley, makes fun of me that whenever my mom is out of town, I call her more than when she is in town...which is probably true and a lot of phone calls.
We’ve always found ourselves in the most interesting situations. Including a time riding the bus at the Arnold Classic with big and bigger muscles all around us drinking protein shakes, where my mom and I were cracking up with our glasses of wine in hand.
To fashion shows, to shopping, to sporting events, to charitable causes, to movies, to traveling, to sitting in emergency rooms, we’ve done it all together.
I don’t think my mom gets enough credit for all she does. She continues to be our biggest cheerleader and will support anything we’re in. And recently, that’s been quite a bit! :) Thanks for supporting multiple causes around town!
It all paid off at Kinder Key’s last event
Denim & Diamonds, where my parents won a
“Barrel of cheer” in the Diamond Raffle which included over 35 bottles of liquor and wine donated by our members and Southern Wine & Spirits!
The funny thing about this is they were out of town for the second year in a row, and when they drew my Dad’s name this year, I had to pick an item out of three items left for them to win. Of course I chose the barrel of cheer! I thought to myself, Cheers to my parents’ contribution and my Dad’s retirement this June! Oh yeah, and our
Annual Jimmy Buffett Party this summer!
Last year at Denim & Diamonds, my mom won the grand Diamond Raffle item of “Jeans for a Year” which included a pair of jeans each month for a year. My sister Leigh Ann and I were jumping up and down, spilling our drinks, yelling and trying to reach our parents who were in Hawaii at the time. You would of that we won the prize, and well...we actually did get to reap the benefits and split the prize!
My parents have always been VERY generous and giving and we appreciate everything that they have worked so hard at to support us.
My mom, who is the life of the party and voted "Class Clown" or something similar to that ("Most Fun" possibly?) in her high school year book, is always up for a good time, and a glass of red vino!

But more than ever, she enjoys and loves having all her girls and now their families’ home at the same time. She’ll be very, very happy when my oldest sister Shelley and her husband Rob come home in TWO WEEKS from today with their four kids: Ryleigh, Alex, Presley and 2-month-old Dylan. Leigh Ann and Rudi have also probably given her another great Mother’s Day (Nana’s Day) present as Leigh Ann is 4 months pregnant! Yay!
With that, I’d like to wish every Mother out there a
Happy Mother’s Day. Without you, well, one, we wouldn’t be here, :) but two, we wouldn’t be who we are today.
Thank you for your kindness, your patience, your support and your love.
Love you Mom.
Eventing off,
Miss C.S.
