Columbus Socialite of the Week: Khola Waddy-Jones

Happy Fashionista Friday!

I’m excited to feature a fellow blogger today as the Columbus Socialite of the Week.

Hot off the press! This fashionista was just featured in Columbus Monthly’s April issue and is passionate about bringing a fashionable focus to Columbus.

She publishes her blog Kholá’s Kloset and is also a fashion writer for Examiner.com.

She is actively involved in CMH Fashion Week and enjoys life in our City!

So who is this Cbus fashion icon?

GETTING TO KNOW...KHOLA WADDY-JONES

Miss C.S. - By far Favorite thing to do in Columbus:

KWJ: Shop! It’s one of my favorite activities anywhere!

Miss C.S. - Favorite Restaurant in the City:

KWJ: Betty’s in Short North. I’ve never had a bad dish there. I also love Lindey’s patio in the summer time.

Miss C.S. - Favorite Hidden Gem:

KWJ: Curiosity Shop in Clintonville. If you love vintage jewelry, you need to make it a point to go there.

Miss C.S. - Favorite Shop/Store:

KWJ: Right now I’m loving Thread on Grandview. It’s relatively new but has a great selection of designers that no other boutique in the city carries.

Miss C.S. - Best Party, Event or Scene in the City:

KWJ: I can’t say that I party that much anymore. Should have asked me a few years ago! LOL. At the moment I’m into smaller scale events like going to hear local musicians play. I recently went to hear Alex White for the first time and really enjoyed it.

Miss C.S.. – Favorite local celebrity:

KWJ: I like Mayor Coleman for his passion and involvement in our city and his focus on growing it to make it an even better place to live. He’s not afraid to get involved with creative projects like CMH Fashion Week. Lending his support to help bring a fashionable focus to Columbus...which of course is dear to my heart!

Miss C.S. – Charity of Choice:

KWJ: Dress for Success. I love its mission.

Miss C.S. - Best Quality of a Person:

KWJ: A genuine heart.

Miss C.S. – How long have you been in central Ohio:

KWJ: I moved here in 2003 from upstate NY.

Miss C.S. – As a fellow blogger, what was your passion / reason for starting a blog:

KWJ: My passion is fashion so I wanted to share my love of it with others and hopefully inspire them.

Miss C.S. – You were also just featured in Columbus Monthly. Tell us a little more about your blog, Kholá’s Kloset:

KWJ: Kholá’s Kloset is a little bit of what’s in my actual closet as well I what I wish was in it. Hermés anyone? LOL. It's a mix of vintage, high-end and high street inspirations.

Miss C.S. – Favorite fashion trend:

KWJ: Currently its lots of color. Not necessarily neon, although it’s hot right now but bold colors like bright, rich jewel tones.

Miss C.S. – Favorite fashion staple – old, new, anything:

KWJ: You can’t beat black and white fitted t-shirts. You can do so many looks with them. Wear them alone, layer, under a jacket, over a dress. Be creative!

Miss C.S. – What is your fashion advice to the readers out there?:

KWJ: Don’t fear what others think. A lot of times because we live in the midwest, people are afraid to just go for it. It’s a little more conservative here. The thing is, you can pull out all the stops and still be classy and put together. Yes, you can wear a bold mini dress just keep the top half covered. You can mix a floral print with stripes. You CAN wear white prior to Memorial Day. Old rules are out!

Miss C.S. – What word comes to mind when you think of “Columbus meets fashion”:

KWJ: Fresh!

Miss C.S. – What is one thing people may not know about you:

KWJ: I used to be VERY shy. I still am to a point.

Miss C.S. - Finish the sentence, “If I could do anything in the World, I would...”

KWJ: End all types of prejudice. Be it race, gender, lifestyle, class…everyone would be treated equally.

Miss C.S. – Why Columbus? (live, work, play – you name it)

KWJ: Opportunity. I originally came here only to finish my Master’s degree but decided to stay. Columbus is a great entrepreneurial incubator. For instance, a friend and I are starting a new venture called 24 Seven Couture. Its online luxury consignment focused in the Columbus area. We’ll also be locating high-end items for clients. The response so far has been really positive!

Miss C.S. - In ONE word, a Columbus Socialite is:

KWJ: FABULOUS!
