This weekend kicks off the Columbus Pride Festival starting at 3 p.m. today at Goodale Park! If you haven’t been, you need to! There’s so much to do from the festival, watching the parade, participating in the 5K (tonight) and raising money for a good cause.
Pride, put on my Stonewall Columbus, serves the central Ohio LGBT community by providing a community center and offering programming and services that enhance the well-being and visibility of our diverse community through discovery, affirmation and celebration.
I’m happy to announce I have a great feature today who is emceeing a portion of Pride this weekend!
Not only is he emceeing this weekend, but he is the evening talent on REWIND 103.5/104.3 and morning show producer for “Sunny in the Morning with Dino & Stacy” on Sunny95.
So who is this Rockstar emcee that had a huge role in getting the station involved in the Columbus PRIDE Festival this year?
GETTING TO KNOW...DAVID EMERSON

Miss C.S. - By far Favorite thing to do in Columbus:
DE: Being the super skinny man that I am, I would definitely have to say dinner out and a few good cocktails! Columbus has some of the greatest food (Level Dining Lounge, Mac’s, Lemongrass) and some of the best places to drink (Local Bar, Level Dining Lounge, Union). What could be better than a great dinner, cocktails and the best of friends?!
Miss C.S. - Favorite Restaurant in the City:
DE: This is easy. Hands down, Level Dining Lounge!
Miss C.S. - Favorite Hidden Gem:
DE: Local Bar. I’m not sure if you would consider it a “hidden gem” anymore…but, it’s super chill and they have the greatest bar staff (they pour a strong drink, too!)
Miss C.S. - Favorite Shop/Store:
DE: For random/fun shopping, I love Bink Davies! For clothes, take me to any of the Express stores in town!
Miss C.S. - Best Party or Scene in the City:
DE: I am completely biased but the LGBT scene is very close to my heart and they can party like there is no tomorrow. Come out with me one time, and I’ll show you what I mean!
Miss C.S. - Best Quality of a Person:
DE: Honesty
Miss C.S. - Charity of Choice:
DE: Stonewall Columbus truly is an amazing organization and group of people! They are doing great things for this city!
Miss C.S. – How long have you been in the radio biz and what do you enjoy most about working on-air:
DE: I’ve been in radio for a decade now; from California to Indiana and back here to my hometown of Columbus! I love having the opportunity to make an impact in the city I love most! Entertaining people and playing music is wonderful but, I hope that people remember me someday as someone who made a difference!
Miss C.S. – If you weren’t doing radio, you would be...
DE: I’ve always wanted to do TV, acting and event planning...so, I guess I’d have three jobs! lol
Miss C.S. – Pride’s theme this year is Allies & Equality. Describe what it means to you:
DE: I am so excited about this theme! PRIDE is a chance for our community to celebrate WHO WE ARE and how far we’ve come. But, it also allows us to look at how far we have to go. With LGBT bullying on the rise and marriage equality in the national spotlight again, we have a chance to do some big and great things. But we can’t do those things without our AMAZING allies! Looking forward to such a united theme!
Miss C.S. – What are you most looking forward to about Pride:
DE: Celebrating who we are as humans and where we’ve come from. I challenge you to stop and ask a few people at PRIDE what their “story” is. I promise you will be moved. Not only to tears, but moved to want to fight for equality!

Miss C.S. – Best place to watch the Pride parade:
DE: I always have my family line up in front of Level. I’m not sure if it’s the best place, but grab a drink (or two) before and if won’t matter where you stand! lol
Miss C.S. - How is Rewind Columbus participating in Pride:
DE: I am so proud to work for this radio station! REWIND is a media sponsor of PRIDE this year! We will be in the parade and out at the festival all weekend! I will also be the emcee on the main stage both Friday and Saturday! Feel free to stop by our bright pink REWIND tent, get some free goodies and I’ll even give you a big ole hug! :)
Miss C.S. – How would you change the World:
DE: Love is my guide in life and there isn’t enough of it going around. I’ve been fired from a job, I’ve been all but kicked out of my Church, I’ve been removed from the featured alumni page on my high school’s website and I’ve received hundreds of hate mail...all because I’m gay. I know what it’s like to feel hated. So I guess if I could change the World, all by myself, I would make it so that EVERY human being is treated with love, dignity and respect...and equal rights. It’s really sad and pathetic that that’s a dream and not a reality, but I will fight for it until the day I take my last breath!
Miss C.S. - Finish the sentence, “If I could do anything in the World, I would...”
DE: “...Quit my job and travel the globe.” Think about all the amazing people you would meet and the things you could learn! So cool!
Miss C.S. - In ONE word, a Columbus Socialite is:
DE: Lively!
Thanks so much David!
He’s quite the socialite and actively engaged in his community. With his “spare” time, he serves as an emcee, guest judge and making appearances at some of the biggest Central Ohio events and festivals! So I appreciate your time and interview on ColumbusSocialite.com! From being in the industry over 10 years and working from California to Indiana, we’re excited he's back in his hometown and our community!
You can also count me as one of your allies. Here’s to change in the World where everyone is “treated with love, dignity and respect and equal rights.”
Have a great weekend everyone!
Eventing off,
Miss C.S.
