Columbus Socialite of the Week: ANDI ATWOOD

Happy Friday!

As you’re looking for something to do this weekend, I’ve listed a couple activities below that will be quite the scene.

First off, the Yoga on High Foundation, a fund of the Columbus Fund is hosting an event tomorrow in Powell from 6:30-8:30 p.m. called “Moroccan Nights”. The event will feature belly dancing, henna tattoos and karma yoga! Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will also be provided. For more information, check out their Facebook page HERE.

Tomorrow, July 14th also marks the 3rd annual AMAZING RASIE fundraising event hosted by Ohio CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) which is a non-profit children’s advocacy program that served over 7,000 abused and neglected children last year and reached over 35 counties in Ohio!

The Amazing Raise is based around the TV show the Amazing Race and teams will race around the Short North following cues and completing challenges in hopes of being the winners. Teams consist of 3-6 adults.

So don’t be surprised when you see masses of people running around Goodale Park and the Short North tomorrow. It’s all for a great cause! In fact, join them at Bar 23 on the Cap to watch and participate in the raffles!

The Amazing Raise couldn't have been done though without the help of my Columbus Socialite of the Week.

She handles Data & Membership for Ohio CASA, has worked for the company for 7.5 years and was kind of enough to have Columbus Socialite be a sponsor of the event!

So what does she love about Columbus so much?

GETTING TO KNOW...ANDI ATWOOD

Miss C.S. - By far Favorite thing to do in Columbus:

AA: The Pride Parade is definitely something I look forward to every year. Pre Pride Parade Breakfast, plus watching the parade is my favorite family tradition.

Miss C.S. - Favorite Restaurant in the City:

AA: Surly Girl. I could live off the veggie chopped salad for sure.

Miss C.S. - Favorite Hidden Gem:

AA: Basi Italia. It’s not that ‘hidden’ anymore, but it’s practically in my backyard and everything is always so quaint and perfect.

Miss C.S. - Favorite Shop/Store:

AA: Now that’s a tough question! I’m going to go with HOMAGE and Bink Davies because I can never leave either store without having purchased something.

Miss C.S. - Best Party, Event or Scene in the City:

AA: The scene at Kobo Live is always pretty solid. I just wish I made it there more often!

Miss C.S.. – Favorite local celebrity:

AA: Tim Fulton (Team Tim). I swear he knew every person in the Doo Dah Parade.

Miss C.S. – Charity of Choice:

AA: Ohio CASA, of course! Honorable mention: prayersforalix.com. She’s such a strong, young lady.

Miss C.S. - Best Quality of a Person:

AA: People who treat their family well, I tend to hold in pretty high esteem.

Miss C.S. – Tell us more about what Ohio CASA does:

AA: Ohio CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) provides a lot of funding and training to our local CASA programs, which train volunteers from the community to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in Ohio’s court system. We recently developed a specialized curriculum for our volunteers called the Ohio CASA Older Youth Initiative, which focuses on serving the older foster youth preparing to age out of the foster care system.

Miss C.S. – How can others get involved with the organization:

AA: Aside from contacting your local program to become a CASA volunteer, attending our fundraising events is a fun way to contribute. We also have two CASA license plates available at oplates.com. It’s always exciting to be on your way somewhere and see someone else with a CASA plate!

Miss C.S. – The Amazing Raise sounds like so much fun. What can people expect at the event:

AA: The Amazing RAISE for CASA is essentially a glorified scavenger hunt with challenges to complete. Participants can expect to follow clues to different locations in the Short North, to complete a silly challenge, and to have a blast! Spectators are more than welcome to join us at Bar 23 and participate in our raffle, too.

Miss C.S. – Is there a prize at the end for the winners:

AA: Absolutely. There are 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes from Huntington/Columbus Clippers, Skechers and Ohio CASA.
(Level Dining Lounge, Matt the Miller’s Tavern, Mukha Spa, Phia Salon, and the Wexner Center also donated some awesome raffle items.)

Miss C.S. - Finish the sentence, “If I could do anything in the World, I would...”

AA: ...Take my cats to work with me.

Miss C.S. – Why Columbus? (live, work, play – you name it)

AA: I just…really like it.

Miss C.S. - In ONE word, a Columbus Socialite is:

AA: Involved!

Thanks so much Andi and best of luck with your event! If I wasn’t going out of town, I’d be right there with my team looking to take home the win!

If you haven’t became a fan of Columbus Socialite on Facebook yet, be sure to “Like” and you may be the lucky winner of a raffle prize!

Have a great weekend!

Eventing off,
Miss C.S.
