5th Annual Condom Couture!

Condom Couture is tomorrow....are you wrapped and ready to go?

(Dress above designed by Rachel Kaplan in 2008)

According to a 2008 study released by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention, one in four teenage girls has a sexually transmitted infection.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio wanted to find a creative way to share this important data with the community.

PPCO Board President Lonni Thompson came up with this idea and invited the Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) to be a part of this vision.

And with that came....CONDOM COUTURE.

The 5th annual event features designer garments made with over 800 condoms, designed by area students and modeled by community leaders. Three scholarships, (underwritten by an anonymous donor)are awarded to the top three designers in the amounts of $1,000 for first place and $500 for second and third.

Since its debut, Condom Couture has raised thousands of dollars,
educated and entertained hundreds of guests and most importantly, increased
awareness of Planned Parenthood's role in our community.

I will be walking the catwalk at Shadowbox Live for the third time. Check out below my two looks from 2009 and 2010 designed by the talented Miss Rachel Kaplan taking first and second respectively.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product that I will be wearing tomorrow designed by senior Jocelyn Williams! More photos and a recap post will be featured at the end of the week! Be sure to check out Columbus Socialite's Facebook Page HERE to see more photos!
